solver certificate.
The evidence a solver produces that a solution is optimal or within a stated gap, such as a matching primal and dual bound.
worked examplebound and gap, kept with the runThe run stores the best plan, the bound the solver computed and the gap between them, with the data and model versions. Anyone with the record can see how close the plan is to the best possible.
in plain language
A certificate turns "the solver says so" into something that can be checked. For linear programs it is a feasible dual solution with the same objective value. For integer programs it is the final bound of the search, which closes the gap to the best plan found.
